Mister Wolf Law

Orange County Employment Lawyer

Protecting OC workers from wrongful termination, wage theft, and workplace harassment.

Orange County's workforce spans nearly every industry imaginable — tech campuses lining the Irvine Spectrum, biotech labs in Lake Forest and Aliso Viejo, defense contractors in Seal Beach and Huntington Beach, theme parks and hotels in Anaheim, and retail and restaurant operations stretching from Fullerton to Dana Point. That economic diversity means OC workers face an equally wide range of employment violations, from unpaid overtime in hospitality kitchens to systemic discrimination at corporate headquarters.

At Mister Wolf, P.C., our employment litigators represent Orange County employees who have been wrongfully terminated, denied wages, harassed, or retaliated against for standing up for their rights. We handle cases throughout OC — in state court at the Central Justice Center in Santa Ana and in federal court at the U.S. District Court's Santa Ana division. Your employer already has a legal team. We make sure you have one that fights harder.

California's employee protections are among the strongest in the country, and Orange County courts enforce them aggressively. If your employer has crossed the line, time matters — statutes of limitations can bar your claim if you wait too long. Contact us for a confidential case review.

Employment Issues Across Orange County Industries

Every sector in OC has its own pattern of workplace violations. We see them constantly, and we know how to build cases around them.

Tech & Software (Irvine, Santa Ana, Costa Mesa)

Irvine alone is home to Blizzard Entertainment, Verizon's west coast operations, and hundreds of mid-size software companies. We see widespread worker misclassification — engineers and designers labeled as "independent contractors" to avoid overtime, benefits, and payroll taxes. We also handle cases involving forced arbitration clauses, overly broad NDAs used to silence whistleblowers, and retaliation against employees who report coding deadline violations of labor law.

Hospitality & Tourism (Anaheim, Buena Park, Newport Beach)

The Disneyland Resort and its surrounding hotels and restaurants employ tens of thousands of workers who are particularly vulnerable to wage theft — shaved hours, denied meal and rest breaks, tip skimming, and unpaid overtime. Anaheim's resort district has been the subject of multiple wage-and-hour class actions. If you work in OC hospitality and your paycheck doesn't reflect every hour you worked, that's a violation we can pursue.

Biotech & Defense (Lake Forest, Huntington Beach, Seal Beach)

South County's biotech corridor and the defense contractors along the coast operate under intense secrecy, which employers sometimes use as a pretext to retaliate against workers who raise safety concerns or report fraud. Federal and state whistleblower protections apply regardless of security clearance level. We represent scientists, engineers, and technicians who have been pushed out for doing the right thing.

Retail & Gig Economy (Countywide)

From South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa to The Outlets at Orange, OC's retail workers face scheduling violations, denied breaks, and wrongful termination disguised as "performance issues." Gig workers delivering for app-based platforms across OC are frequently misclassified under California's ABC test, denying them minimum wage, overtime, and workers' compensation coverage.

Common Employer Violations in Orange County

We represent OC employees in cases involving:

Wrongful Termination

California is an at-will employment state, but that doesn't mean your employer can fire you for illegal reasons. If you were terminated because you reported harassment, took FMLA/CFRA leave, filed a workers' comp claim, or belong to a protected class, you have a wrongful termination case. We pursue these claims in OC Superior Court and in federal court when applicable.

Wage Theft & Unpaid Overtime

California Labor Code sections 510 and 1194 require overtime pay at 1.5x after 8 hours in a day and 2x after 12 hours. Many OC employers — especially in hospitality, healthcare, and retail — violate these rules systematically. We recover unpaid wages, waiting time penalties, and attorney's fees.

Discrimination & Harassment

Under California's Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA), employers with five or more employees cannot discriminate based on race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, religion, or other protected characteristics. We handle hostile work environment claims, quid pro quo harassment, and failure-to-accommodate disability cases throughout Orange County.

PAGA Claims in Orange County

California's Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) lets employees sue their employer on behalf of the state for Labor Code violations — and collect civil penalties for themselves and their coworkers. PAGA claims are particularly effective in OC industries with widespread violations like misclassification and missed breaks. Unlike class actions, PAGA claims cannot be forced into arbitration under recent California Supreme Court rulings, making them a powerful tool for OC workers.

Filing Employment Claims in Orange County Courts

Most OC employment cases are filed at the Orange County Superior Court's Central Justice Center at 700 Civic Center Drive West in Santa Ana. Complex employment litigation — including PAGA actions and class claims — is assigned to the court's complex civil panel. Federal employment claims, including Title VII and ADA cases, go to the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, Santa Ana Division, at the Ronald Reagan Federal Building.

Before filing a lawsuit for discrimination, harassment, or retaliation, you typically must first file a complaint with the California Civil Rights Department (CRD, formerly DFEH) and obtain a right-to-sue letter. For wage claims, you can file directly in court or pursue an administrative claim through the Labor Commissioner's office. Our employment claim deadline guide explains common EEOC, state-agency, wage, and right-to-sue timing rules.
